  • Invited to lecture on U.S. Online Journalism Models and Social Media to business and journalism students and professionals in People’s Republic of China, December 2005. Classes and meetings of note included:

    • Lectured at Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication, Shantou
    • Conducted two-day Executive MBA seminar at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, Beijing, People’s Republic of China
    • Conducted single-day seminar for the Jiangxu Media Group, consisting of 50 top broadcast managers from the umbrella TV and radio group for the third richest province in China. Students included the directors of some 11 channels, including the CEO of the group.
    • Conducted workshops for Yahoo executives in Hong Kong and Beijing, met with leadership of dominant Chinese portals such as SINA and several notable Chinese bloggers.
  • Conducted a seminar, “Making Money on the Web with Product Innovations,” for the Monetize the Web Seminar for the American Press Institute, San Francisco and New York (2004).
  • Conducted half-day seminars, “The State of US New Media & Current Issues in Developing New News Products,” for the Short Course for Norwegian Editors conducted by The University of Texas at Austin Graduate School of Business and the Norwegian Institute of Journalism, Austin, Texas, May 1998,1999, 2000, 2001.
  • Conducted a series of short seminars and training sessions on site for several Scandinavian media companies. The highly interactive sessions on “Best Practices from US New Media” were held at companies including: NTB, Aftenposten, VG Nett and Dagens Naeringsliy in Oslo, Norway; Bergens Tidende, Bergen, Norway, Bonnier Online Network, Stockholm, Sweden and the Sydsvenskan Newspapers in Malmo, Sweden.
